Georg Kapsch is WU Manager of the Year 2025

WU Vienna University of Economics and Business has named Georg Kapsch, CEO of Kapsch TrafficCom AG, WU Manager of the Year 2025.

WU alumnus Georg Kapsch is a distinguished business leader and will receive this award in recognition of his outstanding achievements on December 10, 2025, during an event entitled “Markets. Power. Ethics.” on Campus WU.

With the WU Manager of the Year award, WU honors Georg Kapsch for the achievements he has made during his long-standing and highly successful career as a senior business executive. Under his management, Kapsch TrafficCom has become an international leader in the field of intelligent transportation systems. Kapsch is considered a visionary who combines a keen eye for business innovation with a strong sense of social responsibility.

About the WU Manager of the Year award

WU launched the WU Manager of the Year award in 1993 to honor WU alumni who have distinguished themselves as senior managers driving the development of their companies and the entire business world with extraordinary enthusiasm and vision. Previous recipients of the WU Manager of the Year award include Susanne Baumann-Söllner, CEO of IAKW-AG, technology manager Christopher Schläffer, museum director and art manager Max Hollein, Western Union CEO Hikmet Ersek, and Silvia Angelo, member of the board of ÖBB-Infrastruktur AG. The 2024 WU Manager of the Year award went to Patricia Neumann, CEO of Siemens AG Austria.

Event and award ceremony

In his keynote entitled “Markets. Power. Ethics.” (held in German), Georg Kapsch will address the role of businesses, politics, and leadership in times of technological and social disruptions. He will then participate in a panel discussion featuring:

  • Christopher Lettl (WU Vienna), head of the Institute for Strategy, Technology and Organization

  • Monika Kircher (senior executive & supervisory board member)

  • Franz Schellhorn (director of Agenda Austria)
