The Vienna Graduate School of Finance (VGSF) is celebrating its 20th anniversary - a significant milestone for the first structured PhD Program in Finance in Austria. Since its foundation, the VGSF has pursued the goal of training outstanding young academics and offering them an excellent research environment.

The VGSF is a joint initiative of three leading institutions - the Institute for Advanced Studies (IHS), the University of Vienna and the WU Vienna University of Economics and Business. This cooperation creates a critical mass of researchers that enables intensive, high-quality supervision of doctoral students.

The program impresses with its broad thematic focus, international networking and an established Finance Research Seminar with top-class guests from all over the world. The quality of the training is reflected in the successful international placements - particularly in academia, but also in central and commercial banks as well as in renowned consulting firms.

Continuous funding from the Austrian Science Fund (FWF) is a key success factor. The associated external evaluations contribute significantly to the quality assurance and further development of the program.
