European Universities are transnational alliances of higher education institutions from across the EU supported through the EU’s Erasmus+ and Horizon 2020 program.
These alliances are intended to
become the universities of the future,
promote European values and identity,
improve the quality and competitiveness of European higher education.
The European Universities have the ambitious goal to enhance the quality, inclusion, digitalization and attractiveness of European higher education for the benefit of students, teachers and society.
The first 17 alliances of higher education institutions were selected in 2019, and another group of additional 24 European Universities in 2020, among these also the ENGAGE.EUalliance.
The European University Engaged in Societal Change
ENGAGE.EU is an alliance of nine leading European universities in business, economics, and social sciences, which aims to empower a new generation of socially engaged European citizens by equipping them with the set of skills and competencies needed to tackle the grand societal challenges and positively impact society at large.
The starting points are the big challenges reflected in the United Nations’ Sustainable Development Goals including digitalization and artificial intelligence, climate change, ageing societies and migration. Building on solid background in social sciences, ENGAGE.EU strives for a comprehensive approach, following three interconnected paths:
