In Austria, digital credentials are provided through the eAusweise app. This will soon include a digital student ID, allowing you to verify your student status electronically—for example, when claiming student discounts at places that use either the eAusweise app or the eAusweis Check app for verification.

The digital student ID is an additional service and complements your physical WU student ID card; however, it does not replace the physical card.

To use the digital student ID, you need an ID Austria with full functionality or an eIDAS-notified eID that includes a photo stored in an Austrian register.

Not registered for ID Austria yet?

On April 9, 2026, the ID Austria Service Tour will be visiting WU. You can register for your ID Austria directly on campus. A registration is required to activate digital credentials—such as the digital student ID—within the eAusweise app.

• Time: 9:00 a.m.–12:00 p.m. and 1:00 p.m.–5:00 p.m.

• Location: Gallery (opposite the WU Shop) in Building LC

• No prior registration required

To register for ID Austria, please bring:

• your Austrian passport OR

• your Austrian national ID card

• The document may be expired, but by no more than five years.

Please note: On-site registration is currently only available to Austrian citizens.
