Self-Study Course "How To: Accessible Documents"

How can teaching materials be made more accessible quickly and with minimal effort? Team BeAble has developed a new self-study course on this topic. The course is aimed specifically at WU lecturers and general staff and provides practical guidance on the key principles for creating accessible materials in Word and PowerPoint, so that blind and visually impaired students can read documents independently and without barriers. This way, you can contribute to an inclusive WU.

The CANVAS course consists of several short, concise videos that explain in 15 minutes the key aspects of accessibility in a clear and immediately applicable way. Topics covered include the following:

  • Image descriptions

  • Creating accessible PowerPoint presentations

  • The Accessibility Checker in Word and PowerPoint

These short learning modules allow for a flexible start and offer practical guidance for immediate implementation in everyday teaching.

No prior knowledge is required.

Through this initiative, the Team BeAble supports lecturers in making course content as accessible as possible for students and in reducing barriers to digital teaching.
