Excellent results for WU master’s programs in QS rankings

In the newly published Business Masters Rankings 2024, issued by Quacquarelli Symonds (QS), WU (Vienna University of Economics and Business) holds its own against strong international competitors, scoring excellent results with four of its master’s programs: One WU program comes in third in its category, and three others hold top-20 positions. These results show that WU graduates are highly regarded in the global job market, and they also reflect WU’s great reputation as a university.

In this year’s rankings, which include an increased number of ranking participants from around the world, WU achieved world-class results again with four of its English-taught master’s programs in the respective program rankings.

  • Masters in Supply Chain Management: WU’s MSc in Supply Chain Management takes third place out of 80 programs ranked, after the prestigious MITand Michigan Ross (both USA).

  • Masters in Management: WU’s MSc in Strategy, Innovation, and Management Control ranks 10th out of a total of 199 programs. 11th place goes to the CEMS Master in Management. An international program offered exclusively at WU in Austria.

  • Masters in Marketing: WU’s MSc in Marketing comes in 11th out of 131 programs ranked.

  • Masters in Finance: WU’s Quantitative Finance master’s ranks 16th out of a total of 204 programs.

All four WU master’s programs included in the ranking have achieved excellent results in the “Employability” category, which is based on a worldwide survey of approx. 61,000 employers and graduates’ employment rates. WU’s programs also score far above average in the “Thought Leadership” category, which mainly draws on research output and reputation indicators.

Top results attest to the quality of a WU education

The QS rankings are highly regarded internationally in the world of higher education. They provide valuable orientation and guidance to students looking for the best education in their respective fields. The number of participants increased once again for this year’s rankings, resulting in tougher competition. WU Rector Rupert Sausgruber points out, “The excellent ranking results of WU’s master’s programs against such strong competition confirm the outstanding quality of WU’s teaching and show that WU graduates are very successful in their careers. The results also speak to WU’s strong position in international higher education.”

The annual World University Rankings issued by Quacquarelli Symonds (QS) are among the best-known higher education rankings worldwide, alongside the Times Higher Education (THE) ranking. The QS Business Masters Rankings include a wide variety of indicators. They draw on data from surveys among academics and employers, information provided by the universities themselves, and publication databases.
