The World Risk and Insurance Economics Congress (WRIEC) is a joint conference of the American Risk and Insurance Association (ARIA), the Asia-Pacific Risk and Insurance Association (APRIA), the European Group of Risk and Insurance Economists (EGRIE) and The Geneva Association.

The World Risk and Insurance Economics Congress (WRIEC) is a joint conference of the American Risk and Insurance Association (ARIA), the Asia-Pacific Risk and Insurance Association (APRIA), the European Group of Risk and Insurance Economists (EGRIE) and The Geneva Association. Every five years, the world’s three leading academic associations in risk and insurance and the leading international insurance think tank come together to form this forum dedicated to foster the understanding of risk and insurance. It is the most important gathering of academics and professionals interested in risk and insurance research, education, scholarship, practice, and policy.

This academic program of this year’s conference on August 2nd – 6th, 2015, in Munich, was chaired by Alexander Mürmann, Professor for Risk Management and Insurance at the WU-Department of Finance, Accounting and Statistics. The program included the presentation and discussion of 240 academic papers by research scholars from around the world. In addition to traditional research areas such as risk preferences, life insurance, health insurance, catastrophe insurance, corporate governance, and solvency regulation, papers also covered topics such as micro insurance, climate change, cyber risk, and systemic risk in the insurance industry.
