International Recognition for Outstanding Commitment to Scholarly Publishing

Prof. Dr. Alexander Mürmann has been awarded the Springer Nature Editor of Distinction Award in recognition for his outstanding contribution as the editor of the Geneva Risk and Insurance Review. The international distinction honours exceptional contributions to the scholarly publishing process.

He received awards in the following categories:

  • Editorial Contribution Award – for excellence in managing and maintaining the quality of the peer-review process.

  • Author Service Award – for providing authors with efficient, constructive, and fair support throughout the publication process.

About the person

Alexander Mürmann has been Professor of Risk Management and Insurance at the Institute for Finance, Banking and Insurance at WU Vienna University of Economics and Business since 2007. In addition to his research and teaching activities, he holds several key leadership positions. He serves as Program Director of the PhD Program in Finance and of the Vienna Graduate School of Finance, and as Academic Director of the Executive Program in Risk and Insurance Management at the WU Executive Academy.

His research focuses primarily on consumer behaviour in insurance markets, taking into account psychological factors and digital technologies, as well as on the effects of information asymmetries on insurance markets, regulation, distribution channels, and organisational structures. His work has been published in leading international journals, including Management Science, the Journal of Risk and Insurance, and the Review of Finance. He has also served as president of major academic associations and has been an active member of several international editorial boards.

The Editor of Distinction Awards are presented annually by Springer Nature, one of the world's leading academic publishers. The awards recognise members of the international editorial community who have demonstrated outstanding performance in the publication process.

Particular emphasis is placed on the quality and reliability of peer review as well as on efficiency and support provided to authors. Only editors who rank among the top 20 per cent in key performance indicators receive this distinction.
