Edith Littich was appointed University Ombudswoman

On 1 June 2023, Edith Littich was appointed University Ombudswoman by Federal Education Minister Martin Polaschek. The university ombudsperson is the ministry’s representative to the student ombudsman; their role is to advise and support the student ombudsman and their office and to strengthen the ombudsman system in Austria.

"Through her many years of work as Vice Rector for Academic Programs and Student Affairs at WU, Edith Littich is very familiar with the concerns and issues affecting students and their studies, as well as the institutional framework. She will strengthen the student ombudman's office, especially in cooperation with universities," emphasizes Polaschek. 

The new head of the student ombudsman office is Anna-Katharina Rothwangl. The experienced lawyer, who has been working at the student ombudsman office since 2016, was confirmed as the successor to Josef Leidenfrost, the previous head of the student ombudsman office, at the end of May. She will be responsible for operational matters.

The student ombudsman office advises on all questions, problems and complaints concerning studies

The ombudsman's office is still available to students at www.hochschulombudsstelle.at. It is open to all students for questions, problems, complaints about studying that cannot be clarified or solved on site. Since 2012, the student ombudsman office has been set up as an independent ombudsman, information and service office at the BMBWF.
