Organizations all around the world need to manage huge amounts of data from heterogeneous sources every day in order to conduct decision making processes. This requires them to infer what the value of such data is for the business in question through data analysis as well as acting promptly for critical or relevant situations. Complex Event Processing (CEP) is a technology that helps tackle this issue by detecting event patterns in real time. In this talk, we will present a novel model-driven approach integrating CEP and blockchain that facilitates the creation of event-driven smart contracts without knowing how to program them through a user-friendly design, automatic transformation of smart contract models to code, as well as their deployment in a predefined blockchain at runtime.

Dr. Juan Boubeta-Puig is a tenured Associate Professor with the Department of Computer Science and Engineering at the University of Cádiz (UCA), Spain. He received his Ph.D. degree in Computer Science from UCA in 2014 and was honored with the Extraordinary Ph.D. Award from UCA and the Best Ph.D. Thesis Award from the Spanish Society of Software Engineering and Software Development Technologies (SISTEDES). His research interests include real-time big data analytics through Complex Event Processing (CEP), Event-Driven Service-Oriented Architecture (SOA 2.0), Internet of Things (IoT) and Model-Driven Development (MDD) of advanced user interfaces, and their application to e-health, smart city, industry 4.0 and cybersecurity.
