Thinking Aid or Thinking Substitute? — Research Findings by Christiane Schopf and Christian Spreng

Christiane Schopf attended the annual conference of the Section for Vocational and Business Education of the German Society for Educational Research.

Christiane Schopf once again attended the 2026 annual conference of the Section for Vocational and Business Education (BWP) of the German Society for Educational Science (DGfE), which took place at the University of Rostock from September 16 to 18, 2026, under the theme "Vocational Education Research in Times of Global Transformation and Democratic Responsibility".

The program featured numerous engaging presentations on a wide variety of topics in vocational and business education. During breaks and at the social evening, there were also many opportunities for professional exchange and networking within the community. A particular highlight was the Science Slam, in which six presenters competed to convey their research findings in a humorous manner.

As part of the EMCR (Early and Mid-Career Researchers) program, Christiane Schopf had the opportunity to moderate a very interesting session on digital learning spaces and communication. Together with Christian Spreng from the Chair of Business Education—Vocational Teaching and Learning at the University of Mannheim, she also presented a poster titled "Thinking Aid or Thinking Substitute? How Do Highschool Students Use ChatGPT to Solve Business Administration Exercises?"
