WU's interactive gender equality report awarded

14/12/2022

In the jury's view, WU's digital gender equality report is "a big success" in diversity management.

On the proposal of the independent expert jury, a "Diversitas" main prize of 25,000 euros was awarded to WU. The appointed jury proposed the initiative "Gender Monitoring: WU's digital and interactive gender equality report" as highly deserving of an award. After the award for the performance evaluation concept uLiKe in 2016, the "Diversitas" main prize thus goes once again to WU. The award ceremony took place on 12 December 2022 in the Aula der Wissenschaften.

From the jury's point of view, WU's digital gender equality report was "a great hit", said Dr. Roberta Schaller-Steidl, Head of Department V/Equality and Diversity Management at the BMBWF. Dry numbers become alive in it - the tool encourages "to interactively deal with the equality status of the University of Economics and Business Administration, to look at where there are deficits, to address them and to work on them. The jury is convinced that this initiative has the potential to make gender equality more of an issue within the University of Economics and Business Administration, as comprehensive benchmarking is now possible. The interactive, digital gender equality report of the Vienna University of Economics and Business Administration will significantly increase the understanding of gender equality measures and evidence-based policies, Schaller-Steidl said in the jury's statement.

After an interview on the initiative conducted by Johannes Kaup (ORF) with the Vice Rector for Teaching and Students, Margarethe Rammerstorfer, and the Head of Gender and Diversity Policy at WU, Sonja Lydtin, together with Rainer Baier (Business Education) and Frederik Lange (Staff Office for Gender and Diversity Policy), they accepted one of the five main prizes and congratulations from the Minister of Education, Martin Polaschek - also on behalf of Maria Kutzelnig from the Office of the Rectorate, who made the production of the new Equality Report possible.
