WU launches selection procedures for all bachelor’s programs

03/06/2022

Entrance examinations will be held for the three bachelor’s programs. The exams are scheduled for the end of June and mid-July.

WU has received almost 4,000 valid registrations for the 2,703 places available in the German-taught Bachelor’s Program in Business, Economics and Social Sciences (WiSo) this year. Almost 1,500 people also registered for 870 available places in Business Law (WiRe), WU’s bachelor’s program combining business administration with legal studies. The English-taught Bachelor’s Program in Business and Economics is also in high demand again this year, with almost ten times as many applications as the 240 available places.

Strong interest as an indicator of quality

Rector Edeltraud Hanappi-Egger is pleased to see that interest in WU’s degree programs remains strong and says, “It’s a good sign that demand levels remain high because this speaks for the popularity and quality of the programs we offer in business, economics, and law. We know from surveys that there are very specific expectations usually associated with a WU program, for example good career prospects. But another important factor is, of course, interest in the chosen subject. And that’s a good thing, because students who are enthusiastic about what they study have higher academic success rates.”

Entrance exams in June and July

The entrance exams will be held at the end of June and in mid-July. First up is the online entrance exam for the English-taught Bachelor's Program in Business and Economics. The applicants interested in this program are very international, so the entrance exam was already held in a digital format in the previous years to save them the hassle of traveling to Vienna for just one day. The entrance exam for Business, Economics and Social Sciences (WiSo) will be held on June 30, in the form of an online open-book exam. Applicants will have four hours to complete a number of assignments in writing. To solve the questions asked in the exam, they can use aides such as online resources and teaching materials. For the Bachelor’s Program in Business Law, an in-person entrance exam will be held on Campus WU on July 12.

The application period for WU’s bachelor’s programs has already ended, but applications for the German-taught master's programs are still open until June 30, 2022.

Bachelor’s admission procedure timeline:

June 28: Online entrance exam (BBE)

June 30: Online open-book exam (WiSo)

July 12: In-person entrance exam (WiRe)
