WU alumna Karin Exner-Wöhrer is named WU Manager of the Year 2026

WU Vienna University of Economics and Business has named Karin Exner-Wöhrer "WU Manager of the Year 2026". As the long-serving CEO of SAG Group, Exner-Wöhrer is one of the most influential top executives in Austria’s manufacturing industry, recognized for her lasting success in the business, strategic vision, and responsible corporate leadership. 

With this distinction, WU honors Karin Exner-Wöhrer’s outstanding management achievements, her strong commitment to social responsibility, and her close ties to WU, her alma mater.

WHAT PERSONAL DATA IS PROCESSED?

We process the personal data you provided when registering for the event “WU matters. WU talks.”

ARE YOU REQUIRED TO PROVIDE THIS DATA?

The personal data that must be provided during registration is required for participation in the event, as we need it to properly organize and conduct the event. Otherwise, we unfortunately cannot allow you to participate in the event.

FOR WHAT PURPOSES DO WE PROCESS YOUR DATA?

We process your personal data for the purpose of registration, conducting, and managing the event. This also includes contacting you in the event of last-minute schedule changes or cancellations.

In addition, we may also process your data for documentation and informational purposes. This includes, for example, follow-up reports and information about future events.

ON WHAT LEGAL BASIS DO WE PROCESS YOUR DATA?

  • Article 6(1)(a) of the GDPR – Consent

If you have given us your consent to process your personal data as part of your registration for the event, we will process your data only for the purposes specified in the consent and to the extent agreed upon therein.

You may withdraw your consent at any time with future effect. Withdrawal of consent means that, from that point on, we will no longer process your data for the purposes specified in the consent.

Otherwise, we process your data based on the following legal grounds:

  • Article 6(1)(b) of the GDPR – Performance of contractual obligations and pre-contractual measures

  • Article 6(1)(e) of the GDPR – Performance of a task carried out in the public interest (public relations activities pursuant to Section 3(11) of the University Act 2002)

  • Article 6(1)(f) GDPR – Protection of legitimate interests (information about future events and documentation of activities and developments at WU)

WHO RECEIVES YOUR DATA?

As a general rule, we do not disclose your data to third parties. In specific cases, however, it may be necessary for us to share your data with service providers we engage in order to achieve the purposes described above. We carefully select these providers and contractually oblige them, as data processors, to handle your data in compliance with the law.

HOW LONG DO WE STORE YOUR DATA?

We process your data only for as long as is necessary for the purposes of registration, conducting, and documenting the event, as well as for the purposes of contract fulfillment and providing information. Beyond that, we process your data only for as long as statutory retention periods apply.

Statutory retention periods may arise primarily in the course of contract fulfillment under the Commercial Code and the Federal Tax Code.

WHAT RIGHTS DO YOU HAVE AS A DATA SUBJECT?

As a data subject affected by this data processing, you have the right to access, rectification, erasure, restriction of processing, data portability, and objection vis-à-vis WU as the data controller. In addition, as a data subject, you have the right to file any complaints with the Austrian Data Protection Authority.
