WU again ranked among the top 25 worldwide in the Financial Times ranking
WU master’s degree in International Management/CEMS ranks 21st worldwide out of 100 programs, 3rd in the DACH region
The Master’s Program in International Management/CEMS offered by WU Vienna University of Economics and Business continues to rank among the world’s leading management programs. In the latest Financial Times Masters in Management ranking, the program placed 21st out of 100 worldwide, once again securing a position among the global top tier. WU is the only Austrian university represented in the ranking and ranks third in the German-speaking region, behind the University of St. Gallen and WHU – Otto Beisheim School of Management.
While rankings provide important international benchmarks, they often compare institutions with very different profiles that operate in different environments. Program-specific rankings such as the Financial Times Masters in Management ranking are among the most influential international higher education rankings and offer particularly meaningful insights into how individual degree programs stand up to international competition. In the Masters in Management ranking, WU competes with leading specialized management programs from around the globe and has once again earned a place among the world’s top 25. “Being ranked among the world’s best management programs is a tremendous achievement. The fact that WU is the only Austrian university represented in the ranking highlights both our university’s international standing and the strength of our master’s program,” says WU Rector Rupert Sausgruber.
International experience and strong value for money
WU International Management/CEMS alumni surveyed for the ranking reported high overall satisfaction with their choice of program. The program was rated very highly with regard to the international study experience it offers, earning 10th place worldwide in the “International Course Experience” category. WU also places in the top third globally on the ranking’s most heavily weighted indicator, alumni salaries. The WU program ranks 11th worldwide for “Value for Money,” a measure of the long-term benefits of the degree relative to its cost. These results underscore both the program’s international orientation and the value it offers to students. The Master’s Program in International Management/CEMS combines a rigorous management education with a strong international focus. A mandatory study-abroad component and close integration with the international CEMS network enable students to gain experience across a wide range of academic and professional environments.
How the Financial Times assesses master’s programs
The ranking is based on 19 criteria covering alumni career progress, international orientation, diversity, international experience, and sustainability. Fifty-six percent of the data comes from a survey of alumni who graduated three years ago, while the remaining 44 percent is provided directly by participating institutions.
The top two positions are once again held by European institutions. The University of St. Gallen retained first place, followed by Portugal’s Nova School of Business and Economics in second. China’s Shanghai Jiao Tong University Antai College of Economics & Management moved up to third place.
