Wintersemester 2020 - Festo Didactic

EXECUTIVE SUMMARY

Festo LX is contributing to the 21st century revolution of the educational sector through providing a learning platform enhancing learners’ and teachers’ learning experience. This report covers existing and potential features and aims to present the most valued ones contributing to the platform’s optimization.

Goal

The project’s goal is to identify which features are being prioritized by customers in three different target groups – industry, education and personal growth. An analysis of the individualistic preferences of learners, trainers and human resource managers is conducted to visualize it through the implementation of a Kano Model. Through the visualization we aim to identify a unique selling proposition (USP) for the platform.

Methodology

To identify the most important features of the platform qualitative and quantitative data, namely interviews and surveys will be conducted. Starting off with three qualitative interviews with the respective target groups, a quantitative survey answered by 100 people from the target groups and another qualitative interview reassuring the first findings followed. Through implementing the Kano model, a tool to measure and visualize the information extracted from the qualitative as well as quantitative data, a visualization of the data will be ensured to then allow an appropriate interpretation proposing a potential USP.

Results

The overall assessment along the three target groups showed that the features analyzed can be divided into two categories of the Kano model, namely into Performance and Indifferent features. Almost all the features of the Festo LX platform represent Performance features, which means that these are wanted and evaluated positively by customers. These features are the Festo LX Creator, Mobile Learning, Communication, Micro Learning, Learning Analytics & Adaptive Learning, External Software Integration, Evaluation of Content and Integration into Current System. The three most important features among these Performance features are the LX Creator, Mobile Learning and Communication. The rest of the features, namely Certification, Automated Feedback, Gamification and VR belong to the Indifferent features, of which VR is the least important. However, the analysis of the surveys collected from the target group Industry showed a slightly different picture. In the case of this target group, Automated Feedback turned out to be an Attractive Feature. Thus, this feature could represent a USP for Festo Didactic. As for other differences, Certification also belongs to the Performance features being almost a Must-be feature according to answers of the industry-customers. It shows that this feature has to be part of the Festo LX platform for industry customers.
