If you have earned less than 12 ECTS credits after two semesters, we will send you an email and refer you to our support services. In your third and fourth semester you will still have time to achieve the required minimum academic performance. If you have earned less than 16 ECTS credits at the beginning of your fourth semester, we will notify you again of a possible expiration of your admission and the consequences thereof.

If you do not reach the required minimum academic performance (16 ECTS credits) by the end of your fourth semester, your admission will expire. In the winter semester, this will come into effect on October 31, in the summer semester on March 31 – all exams taken up to this point will be considered.

If your admission expires, you will only be abel to enroll again and continue your studies after a two-year break.

Yes, ECTS credits earned in your fifth semester by the deadline (winter semester: October 31 / summer semester: March 31) count towards your minimum academic performance. This applies to exams taken/credits earned during the first exam week and any other credits earned in your fifth semester by the deadline (October 31 / March 31). 

Semesters during which you take a leave of absence do not count. However, any ECTS credits earned in the relevant semester BEFORE you notified us of your leave of absence, do count.

The minimum academic performance does NOT apply for:

• Students who enrolled in their WU bachelor’s program in a semester prior to the 2022/2023 winter semester and who actively switch or are “automatically” switched to a new curriculum. This only applies, however, if students have been continuously enrolled (without a break).

• Students with a disability according to § 3 BGStG

Students with a disability due to § 3 BGStG need to contact WU (BeAble team, beaable@wu.ac.at) and provide proof (via documentation) of their disability. This must be done by September 30 / February 28 of the year during which students would otherwise have to achieve the minimum academic performance.
