How can I apply?
Please apply during the application period using our online application platform, citing the reference number of the job opening.
There you can upload all your documents. Once your application has been submitted successfully, we will send you a confirmation of receipt.
What documents do I have to submit to make sure that my application is complete?
Please send us an informative letter of motivation and a CV that is complete and up to date.
To complete your application, please also add reference letters from your previous jobs and educational certificates and diplomas. These documents are required to give us an accurate picture of your experience.
Please create two separate documents – one for the letters of reference from your previous jobs and one for educational certificates and diplomas. You can use the following file formats: Word (doc, docx), PDF, JPG, PNG, GIF. PLEASE NOTE: The maximum size for individual files is 15 MB.

Can I submit a speculative, general job application?
At WU, each open position is advertised separately in a closed-loop process.
This means that we unfortunately cannot process any applications that do not include a reference number for a specific job opening.
If you want to apply for more than one open position, you will also have to re-apply for each specific reference number.
Can I interrupt the application process and pick up later where I left off?
The application form cannot be saved before submitting. For this reason, we recommend making sure you have reviewed all the documents you want to include with your application and have them ready to upload before beginning.
Can I submit additional documents after sending in my application?
If you forgot to include something with your application, you are welcome to send us the missing information or documents by email. You can either contact firstname.lastname@example.org or simply reply to the confirmation of receipt email. We will be happy to add the documents to your application.
I’m having technical problems with the application – who can I contact?

Can I still apply even if the application deadline is past?
Application periods are open for a minimum of 3 weeks and can be extended if necessary. For information on the application deadline for a specific position, please see the advertisement for the individual job opening. Applications submitted after the deadline can unfortunately not be processed.
I can’t find the job I want to apply for on the WU Careers page anymore. Can I still apply?
If the opening is no longer listed, the application period has expired. This means that no further applications are being accepted for the job opening with this reference number.
When will I get a response to my application?/When can I expect a reply?
As you certainly know, the selection process is time-consuming. If you have been selected for a personal interview, we will usually be in touch soon after the expiration of the application period. If your application is not shortlisted for selection, you will be notified after the end of the recruiting process.

Where and how are job interviews conducted?
Each individual organizational unit has its own recruitment and selection process. The selection process may involve a number of different steps, for example interviews, (online) assessments, presentations, or hearings. You will in any case be informed of the exact procedure and given time to prepare.
Applying for senior faculty positions: Public candidate lectures/hearings are an important part of the senior faculty recruitment process.
COVID-19 information: Due to the current situation, an increasing number of interviews are being held online (e.g. on MS Teams or Skype). However, in-person interviews on location are also an option, subject to all relevant safety and hygiene measures. WU has taken all the necessary spatial and hygiene precautions to make this possible.
Will I be reimbursed for expenses resulting from job interviews?
Please understand that WU cannot reimburse you for travel and accommodation expenses incurred in the course of recruitment and selection procedures.
Applying for senior faculty positions: Travel and accommodation expenses will be reimbursed pursuant to the relevant WU guidelines.
What happens to my personal data after conclusion of the selection process?
