PhD info session for SEEP students

30/06/2015

Since SEEP students frequently decide to pursue an academic career after graduation, they were treated to a special info session entitled “Doing a PhD at the WU and abroad” with Dr. Barbara Bauer from the WU’s Doctoral Office. In her talk, Dr. Bauer gave a brief overview of available doctoral programs at the WU, also discussing admission criteria and dissertation guidelines. The session was complemented by current and former PhD students of the Department for Socioeconomics, who shared their experience of what doing a PhD at the WU or abroad entails. Topics ranged from grants and funding to work-life balance and employment opportunities. In a lively discussion following the presentation, SEEP students had the chance to ask questions and engage with the speakers in an informal way.

Our thanks go to Dr. Bauer from the Doctoral Office and Karin Dobernig, Michael Soder, Asjad Naqvi, and Ann Hartell from the Department for Socioeconomics for taking time from their busy schedules to join us for this informative session!
