Alexander Wilfinger holds a chair in civil law and civil procedure law at WU. Previously, he was professor of civil procedure law and insolvency law at the University of Graz and professor of private law at the Alpen-Adria-University of Klagenfurt.

Wilfinger conducts research in all areas of civil law and civil procedure law and teaches these subjects at the academic level. He has received several awards for his scholarly work and academic courses. He is a member of the editorial boards of the Austrian Lawyer’s Journal (Österreichische Jurist:innenzeitung, EvBl) and the Austrian Journal of Consumer Law (Zeitschrift für Verbraucherrecht, VbR), co-editor of a commentary on the law of evidence (Spitzer/Wilfinger 2020) and co-organizer of the annual Conference on Traffic Law (ZVR-Verkehrsrechtstag). Through lectures, expert opinions and media interviews, he maintains close ties with legal practice and the interested public.
