Position at IIB, other positions and academic career

Vera has been working as Teaching and Research Associate at the Institute for International Business since November 2016. She earned her PhD from WU Vienna in 2020 and was a visiting researcher at the Department of Global Economics and Management of the University of Groningen. Vera’s teaching includes classes in International Business strategy, emerging market strategies, and International Business and development. For her teaching and research activities, she has won the WU Innovative Teaching Award as well as the AIB Doctoral Dissertation Proposal Award. Vera holds a Master’s degree in Economics and a Bachelor’s degree in International Business Administration, both from WU Vienna, and studied abroad at Norwegian Business School in Oslo and Copenhagen Business School. During her studies, Vera gained practical experience in Vienna and Beijing.

Research interest

Vera’s research interests focus on international strategy, particular in response to political and social developments, and on developmental effects of firms’ international operations. In her dissertation she investigates how political dynamics and anti-foreignism influence firms’ foreign investment strategies. So far, her work has been published in the Journal of International Business Policy.
