Anna Flaišmanová

Anna Flaišmanová is a researcher and graduate student completing her Master’s degree in Nationalism Studies at the Central European University in Vienna. Her areas of focus are the intersections of far-right populist nationalism and gender, especially as it relates to feminist movements in Central Europe, with a focus on the Czech Republic. She is currently writing a thesis discussing the role of women and femonationalist appeal in Czech far-right ideology promoted by Tomio Okamura’s Freedom and Direct Democracy party and the far-right femonationalist group “Angry mothers”. Her focus on femonationalism is related to her previous work studying patterns of tech-enabled intimate partner violence, corresponding legislative and grassroots efforts seeking to address the issue. Her undergraduate thesis was primarily focussed on analysis of these issues from an intersectional standpoint, studying how class, race and ethnicity can have significant exacerbating effects on this ongoing societal problem.
