24/7 [Digital]

Digital support for the caregiving network in 24-hour care

24/7

In Austria, caregivers from Eastern and Southern European countries live in the households of individuals in need of care as part of the "24-hour care" for a certain period of time. Although there is a strong effort to learn German, communication can be challenging in some cases.

The goal of the "24/7 Digital" project is to simplify communication in 24-hour care. To achieve this, the app "24h Dialog" is being developed and evaluated in field tests. "24h Dialog" utilizes selected AI-supported translation functions and is designed to be compliant with data protection regulations. Care recipients, relatives, caregivers, nursing experts, and agencies can use it to translate communication content directly in chats, during video calls, and whenever needed.

The app "24h Dialog" will be expanded with "KlimaFit," another development of the "24/7 Digital" project. "KlimaFit" is a web application that provides tips for caregiving during specific weather phenomena (e.g., heat, pollen) in all project languages. Additionally, further services for the caregiving context are being tested. With "24/7 Digital," gaps in the portfolios of providers of care and support software are to be closed.

The WU Institute for Aging Economics coordinates the co-design phase and is responsible for the evaluation of "24h Dialog."
