About me

Matthias Kourek is an Administrative Assistant at the Institute for International Political Economy. He supports Prof. Bunte and the entire team of the Institute in all administrative and organizational matters - from announcing courses, sending out important information, managing course pages on the learning platform WU-LEARN to assisting in the organization of events. In addition, he acts as an interface between the staff of the Institute and other departments of the University, such as Human Resources, Financial Accounting, etc.

Matthias holds a Bachelor's degree (B.A.) and a Master's degree (M.A.) in Geography with a focus on Human Geography and Conflict Studies from the University of Vienna (2018/2023). His interests lie primarily in the areas of international cooperation and politics as well as urban societies with a focus on Latin America. In addition to his studies, he also worked as a student assistant for population geography and demography at the Institute of Geography and Regional Research at the University of Vienna.

Outside of work, Matthias is an avid choral singer.
