The course "Sustainable Economics: Deepening and Application" is a lecture exercise (VUE). The course consists of a lecture and an exercise part as well as a final exam.

The course takes place over a period of seven weeks. In the first and second week, you will attend the three lecture units that will prepare you for the final exam. From the second to the fifth week, you will attend a total of seven exercise sessions in smaller groups, in which you will deal with a topic of your choice in more detail. The sixth week is reserved for exam preparation. The final exam on the content of the three lecture units takes place in the seventh week.

The three lecture units deal with three groups of actors: citizens, companies and politicians. The lectures will address the diverging interests and different scopes of action of these three groups of actors. The lectures focus on the interactions and interrelationships between the three groups of actors and their role in shaping a sustainable society and future-proof economic practices.

The lecture will be held in German and the content learnt will be tested in a final exam at the end of the course.

The exercise part consists of seven units in smaller groups and deals with a variety of topics. This diversity is best understood using the ZuWi-VA topic matrix. Each exercise section represents an intersection of the stakeholder groups of citizens, politicians and companies as well as the subjects of globalisation, society and the environment. While the lecture part is held exclusively in German, exercise sections are offered in English and German.

As the choice of exercise and therefore specialisation must be made when registering for the course, we recommend that you familiarise yourself with the range of exercises on offer before registering. The course consists of 3 lecture units and 7 exercise units. While the lectures are identical for all students, you must choose one of the exercise sections. The choice is made when you register on LPIS. It is advisable to watch the videos for the exercise sections in advance. As soon as you have decided on an exercise section, please make a note of the name of the instructor. When you register on LPIS, you will find the course with your desired exercise by the name of the instructor.

The course lasts seven weeks and consists of three lecture units, seven exercise units and a final multiple-choice exam. The final exam accounts for 25% of your overall grade and takes place at the end of the course. You are automatically registered for the exam when you register for the course. In terms of content, the exam refers to the three lecture units that deal with the three groups of actors: citizens, politicians and companies. These lectures deal with their interactions and their influence on our society, the environment and the global economy.

In the various exercise sections, you will have the opportunity to study specific actors and topics in greater depth. The exercise section accounts for 75% of your overall grade.
