Integration through labor market programs: The impact of youth colleges Vienna on the social integration of refugees

The integration of refugees into the labor market is a central challenge in EU countries. The Vienna Youth Colleges pursue this goal by providing young refugees with individual qualification through language and basic education. This study analyzes the effects of the educational program on labor market opportunities, educational and social capital, as well as the life satisfaction of participants. A structured panel survey of participants allows for a comparison of these aspects between participants and a control group using a difference-in-difference design. The results provide evidence of the effectiveness of labor market programs aimed at promoting improved integration of refugees into the labor market and society.
