Text Mining

Text mining means that large volumes of text, such as academic articles or legal documents, are automatically analyzed using computer algorithms. (In contrast, data mining focuses on structured data.) The goal is to extract patterns, relationships, and new knowledge from these texts.

Methods such as statistical analysis, machine learning, and natural language processing (NLP) are used. These help to structure, categorize, and evaluate texts, something that would be hardly possible to do manually.
