Branch Libraries

The Library maintains a collection of about 680,000 books, more than 180,000 eBooks500 printed journals, about 29,000 eJournals, and about 170 databases. Not only the largest library for economics and business in Austria, WU Library also ranks among the most extensive of its kind in German-speaking countries.

The library's collection focuses on: Business and Management, Economics, Law (particularly Business Law), Information Systems, Statistics and Mathematics, Economic Geography and Economic History, Sociology and Economic Education.

The WU Library also has a collection of relevant academic grey literature (such as Working Papers), by University faculty, by members of the scientific community elsewhere in Austria, or by international scholars from all over the world.

The Library has a comprehensive collection of OECD, World Bank and Asian Development Bank publications.

A wide range of statistical material and business information sources is provided in both digital and printed form, as indispensable tools for researchers and students.

The University Library has two branch libraries on Campus WU. Your valid WU student ID card or library card grants you access to the libraries.

Central Library

The Central Library is located in the Library & Learning Center (LC).
It contains the backbone of the WU University Library collection, focusing on introductory literature and books for further reading. The Library also houses the textbook collection.

The library holdings also include the collections of the Departments of Finance, Accounting and Statistics, Information Systems and Operations, Management, Marketing, Socioeconomics, Strategy and Innovation, Economics, and Global Trade.

Most of the books from the holdings of the Central Library can be borrowed.

A total of 1,600 self-study workplaces are available in the Central Library. Different types of workplaces are available for different studying requirements. The library has quiet zones, areas for communication or group work, project rooms (online booking and room use for WU students only), and the Newslounge.

Please contact the library front desk for all matters regarding loans and borrowing. If you want to request a library card, need help with the self-service checkout, or have any problems with the payment of fees and fines, please ask the library front desk team.

Library for Law

The Library for Law in building D3 offers literature from all areas of law. The focus of the collection is based on the research areas of the Departments of Law and the legal subjects. Specialized literature from the field of tax law is located at the Institute for Austrian and International Tax Law on the 2nd floor.

WU staff only may borrow books from the library. WU students and other users may not borrow books but may use them in the library.
