Institute for Gender and Diversity receives funding for a two-year project under the Africa-UniNet framework

We are pleased to announce that the Institute for Gender and Diversity has received funding for a two-year project under the Africa-UniNet framework, with Andrea Romo Pérez serving as Principal Investigator (PI).

The project, titled “Advancing the Rights and Reintegration of Internally Displaced Persons in Nigeria, Uganda and Ethiopia: Focus on Women and Children”, addresses one of the most pressing humanitarian and development challenges in the region. By centering on women and children, it emphasizes the urgent need to ensure protection, rights, and opportunities for some of the most vulnerable populations affected by conflict and displacement.

The collaboration brings together teams from:

  • WU (Vienna University of Economics and Business): Anett Hermann, Wogene Berhanu Mena, Robert Bettinger, and Andrea Romo Pérez

  • Kyambogo University (Uganda), led by Prof. John Mary Kanyamurwa

  • Debre Markos University (Ethiopia), led by Abatihun Alehegn Sewagegn

  • Igbinedion University Okada (Nigeria), represented by Prof. Deborah Odejimi

Africa-UniNet was initiated by the Austrian Federal Ministry of Education, Science and Research (BMBWF) and is implemented by OeAD – Austria’s Agency for Education and Internationalisation.
