EGOS Local Hub at WU

On July 8, 2026, the EGOS (European Group for Organizational Studies) Local Hub took place at WU Vienna. Edeltraud Hanappi-Egger and Anett Hermann from the Institute for Gender and Diversity in Organizations, together with Thorsten Koch from the Institute for Organization Studies, organized the workshop “Organization Studies in Sports: Must-Have or Nice-to-Have?”, which brought together current perspectives on the intersection of organization studies and sports.The event began with a stadium tour at the Viennese football club SK Rapid Wien, organized by Edeltraud Hanappi-Egger, Professor at WU Vienna and Vice President of SK Rapid Wien. This was followed by a keynote by Wolfgang Mayrhofer from the Interdisciplinary Institute for Management and Organisational Behaviour, marking the start of the academic part of the event. During the poster session, participants presented their current research projects and discussed different approaches to studying sports from an organizational perspective. Our project team, consisting of Edeltraud Hanappi-Egger, Ashura Udikaluka, and Anett Hermann, contributed with the research project “Fanagement in Organizations: A Stakeowner Perspective,” led by Edeltraud Hanappi-Egger.
