In 2016, the WU GTPC started a project on how to improve cross-border dispute mechanism which provided input into the ongoing work of the UN Tax Committee and the European Commission by means of a series of conferences focusing on direct taxes.

In July 2018 we launched a new phase of this work which focused on cross border VAT disputes and launched a global questionnaire to collect information on the causes of such disputes, current mechanisms to minimise and resolve them and to explore innovative approaches. Here is the latest article on this project.

In 2020 it was decided to lunch a supplementary questionnaire focusing on the specific issues which arise in the European Union.

Over the coming 12 months there will be a series of workshops and conferences to discuss the responses to these two questionnaire:

  • March 22, 2024 Workshop "Effective Approaches to Cross-Border VAT/GST Dispute Resolution"

The new focus will complement the discussions we had previously, where we focused on cross-border VAT disputes in a global environment and which was based upon a preliminary analysis of the 62 responses that we received to the original questionnaire.

Please let us know if you would like to attend the Workshop and write to confirm your participation to Ms. Alba Bejleri (alba.bejleri@wu.ac.at). You will receive a link to attend the event upon your confirmation.
