Studying Sustainability

Every semester, WU students can choose anywhere between 80 and 100 courses on environmental and/or social sustainability at Bachelor’s, Master’s, PhD levels, as well as mixed-level electives. Sustainability is also embedded in WU's core curriculum at the Bachelor's level via mandatory (for most students) course sequence Module ZuWi.

If you are currently enrolled or work at WU, the best way to get informed about course offerings is via the vvz [course directory] website.

Additional STaR tips:

  • Take a look at the teaching profiles of STaR WU faculty members and STaR Intellectual Community

  • Several faculty members at WU are actively engaged in the Scientists for Future (S4F) movement and lecture in its cross-disciplinary Lectures4Future series. See if there are offerings this/next semester.

  • Check out a unique hands-on program taught conjointly by four major universities in Vienna. It is called Sustainability Challenge and is coordinated by STaR colleagues at RCE Vienna (the website is largely in German).

  • Download our STaR Topics List from the BA/MA Theses Website. Many of the theses supervisors offer courses on topics related to their research and thesis supervision.
