Research

An important part of Wendy Chapple’s research portfolio is the international comparative analysis of corporate responsibility, with various studies focusing on patterns and institutional drivers of corporate responsibility in Asia, OECD countries, and developing countries, particularly how national characteristics and institutions shape CSR over time.  Closely related to this is the research of sustainability impact, the evolution and development of the concept and the drivers of sustainability impact within the international context.

On a more micro level, Professor Chapple researches the process of change, adoption, and translation within and between organisations through practice based social learning and the role of leadership and boundary spanning in the evolution of sustainable practices and performance.

Her work has been published in journals such as Journal of International Business Studies, Journal of Business Ethics, Business and Society and Research Policy. She has also been a commentator on CSR and Sustainability in the UK’s Guardian, Telegraph, BBC and was featured in the Financial Times series “Women in Business”.  Her editorial responsibilities include editorial board membership of Business Ethics Quarterly.
