The Department of Marketing

The Department of Marketing consists of six institutes, all working in closely related disciplines. This concentration of resources in research and teaching is a major advantage for the university and contributes significantly to WU’s institutional and international profile.

Marketing management, consumer behaviour, service marketing, tourism, and retailing are the main research and teaching focuses of the Department in its capacity as a competence centre in the field of marketing. Prof. Peter Schnedlitz ist Head of Department since 2012 and Prof. Bernadette Kamleitner acts as his deputy.

Close cooperation with the business and marketing communities is also a very high priority in the Department’s work. Our research programmes combine cutting-edge theory and practical applications to provide graduates with the knowledge and the skills for creating, communicating, and delivering value to customers with customized products and services in a profitable and sustainable way. Furthermore, we aim to become one of the leading centres in marketing research and education in the German speaking countries, and also in the whole of Europe. We aim to make significant contributions to the marketing discipline.
