Presenting Research on Special Economic Zones in Zurich

16/06/2026

Sidan Raeskyesa traveled to Zurich to present his latest research on Special Economic Zones at the Swiss Political Science Annual Congress 2026.

This year, our researcher Sidan Raeskyesa traveled to Zurich to present his research on Special Economic Zones (SEZs) at the Swiss Political Science Annual Congress 2026. His work examines the relationship between fiscal decentralization and the establishment of SEZs.

Engaging discussions and valuable feedback from scholars and practitioners followed the presentation. Particularly valuable was the discussion about how fiscal decentralization shapes local governments’ incentives to create economic zones. These new insights will help further develop the project and strengthen the ongoing research.

Outside the conference, he also visited the University of Zurich to see the certificate of Albert Einstein, who completed his PhD in physics there. In addition, he took the opportunity to meet with his co-author, Ingrid Fromm from the Bern University of Applied Sciences.
