SBWL FAQ

  • Where can I find the course schedule?
The official schedule for the lectures of the current term can be found in the WU Course Catalog (eVVZ).

  • Why is it not currently possible for me to enroll in all 5 courses in one semester?
Our course design does not allow you to take all courses in one semester. You will first have to take courses 1-3 to learn the foundations of Strategy & Organization. Afterwards you can take courses 4 and 5.
Completing courses 1, 2, and 3 is mandatory for registering for courses 4 and 5.

  • Is it possible to take the courses in a different order?
It is not possible to take the courses in a different order since you will need the knowledge and skills from the previous courses to successfully complete the following courses.

  • What do I have to do in order to apply for the SBWL?
If you fit the criteria explained here, you have to register for AG “Access to Specialization in Business Administration: Strategy and Organization” (Einstieg in die SBWL) in LPIS. Additionally you have to fill out the application form together with your CV, transcript of your records and your motivation letter (use provided form).

  • What GPA (grade point average) do I need to get into the SBWL?
We do not require a certain GPA. We assess students based on all admission criteria (CV + transcript of records + motivational letter).

  • When can I apply for the winter term 2022/2023?
The registration for the AG “Access to Specialization in Business Administration: Strategy and Organization” and the application via our enrollment form take place at the same time.
The application period starts on August 24, 2022 and ends on August 31, 2022.

  • Can I send my application documents before or after the enrollment period?
For the sake of fairness we can only accept applications we receive during the application phase.

  • Where can I apply for the SBWL?
Please fill out the application form and upload all your application papers here. (link will be active during the application period)

  • When will I find out if I am accepted for the SBWL?
Please note that the evaluation of the applications takes several days and students will be informed as soon as a decision is made. Messages about your current position and alike will therefore not be answered due to limited time resources.

  • How will I know if I have passed the evaluation process?
Your AG course will be graded with „successfully completed“. Afterwards you can register for the SBWL courses via the LPIS system.

  • My AG-course has been graded “successfully completed”. What do I have to do now?
Once you have been accepted to our SBWL you can register for the SBWL courses during the registration phase (details can be found on the WU course catalogue/ eVVz).

  • I have been accepted to the SBWL, but I have decided against taking it. Should I let anybody know?
Yes, please let us know as soon as possible if you do not need your offered spot. This will allow us to inform your fellow students from the waiting list in a timely manner.

  • I have been accepted to the SBWL, but I would like to start the specialization in the next semester. Is this possible?
Once you have been accepted into our SBWL you have to start the SBWL in the semester of your acceptance. If you do not take course 1 in your first semester you will lose your spot and can no longer take any courses of the SBWL.

  • I will study abroad for a semester and can therefore not take all courses in two consecutive semesters. Will I still get a spot in courses 4 and 5 after my return?
Even if it is possible to attend the remaining courses after your return, we cannot guarantee you a free spot because every semester new students will start the SBWL and the registration for every lecture is on a “first come, first serve” principle via LPIS.

  • For which courses can I transfer credits?
Due to the special design and the contents of courses 1, 2 and 5, we cannot accept other courses than our own. If you find equivalent courses you can take course 3 and 4 abroad.

  • Will my course abroad be accredited?
This is done by the regulations office. If you need further information on that, please contact them directly by sending a message to course.abroad@wu.ac.at or visit them in the LC building.

  • Are there any fees I have to pay for the SBWL?
You will not have to pay fees for the course itself, but the case course IV will be based on case studies from Harvard Business School Publishing, which you have to purchase from their website (approx. € 30,-). Instructions on how to buy the cases will be given in the course.
