Bachelor or Master Theses

Students work on a managerially relevant topic and deliver an academically sound and detailed analysis of a company problem. The Institute for Organization Design adopts a coordinating function. Our Institute supervises theses that focus on organizational or strategic issues.

Capstone company projects

Student teams analyze a company problem over a period of one semester and present their findings in a mid-term and final presentation to company representatives. The Institute of Organization Design coaches students during their entire project work.

Examples of past project seminars:

• Conducting a scenario analysis for a listed company

• Improving a listed company’s market evaluation and planning process

• Identifying new sources of value creation from digitization

• Developing an organic growth strategy for a start-up

• Identifying process improvements during a reorganization

• Assessing the opportunities and challenges of an agile organizational structure

• Evaluating the potential and challenges of an ambidextrous culture

• Evaluating future of work office design concepts

Guest speaker presentations or case study seminars

Guest speaker presentations or case study seminars in one of our Bachelor or Master courses. Guest speakers will discuss current topics from business practice with our students. Industry partners can also offer case study seminars in our Bachelor program.

Third-party funding of research projects

An industry partner finances a project that addresses a particular research topic.

Upon agreement, the industry partner and the research team collaboratively outline the project's key objectives and deliverables, ensuring alignment with both the academic and practical implications of the research. This collaborative effort fosters a symbiotic relationship, where theoretical insights meet real-world application, offering tangible solutions to industry-specific challenges.

Scientific expertise for company awards, international competition, or studies on specific topics

A company or international institution needs scientific expertise in designing a survey or an interview guide for a competition, evaluating participating companies, and summarizing the results in a study. The Institute for Organization Design can guide the entire process, write the final study, and / or present the results during an awards ceremony.

Examples: Prof. Klarner provided scientific expertise for the Deloitte & Touche Axia Award during 2010, 2011, 2013, and 2014.
