Former head of institute, retd.

Wilfried Altzinger is Head of the Research Institute ‘Economics of Inequality’ (jointly with Karin Heitzmann) and Deputy Head of the Institute for Macroeconomics (Vienna University of Economics and Business). He teaches Economic Policy with a particular interest on distributional issues. In 2014 he was (co-)organizer of the annual conference of the Austrian Economic Association on “Economics of Inequality”. Altzinger also played an essential role in the establishment of the “Rothschild-Steindl-Special-Collection” in memory of the two eminent Austrian economists. In 2014 Altzinger was a visiting researcher with Antony Atkinson at the Institute for New Economic Thinking at the Oxford Martin School (Oxford, UK).
