Work at IfU, previous experience and academic profile

Victoria Fung is an Assistant Professor of Strategy and Managerial Accounting at the Department for Strategy and Innovation. She holds a PhD in Accountancy from the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign, a Master in Professional Accounting from The University of Texas at Austin, and a BBA in Accounting and a BA in Economics from The University of Texas at Austin. Prior to pursuing her PhD, she worked as an external reporting analyst at CVS Health. She is a licensed CPA in Texas.

Victoria examines how organizational practices and information shape the decisions of managers, employees, and other stakeholders. Her research focuses on how management control practices, targets, incentives and disclosures influence behavior across a variety of settings. For example, she studies how environmental targets affect managers' investment decisions, how salary range disclosures influence job candidates' application and negotiation decisions and how ESG target achievement affects ESG outcomes and investor behavior. Victoria uses both experimental and archival methods, choosing the approach that best fits the research question. Her prior experience in external reporting at CVS Health also informs her interest in how organizational practices shape decision-making.

Victoria has taught undergraduate management accounting and master's-level data analytics courses, with experience as both an instructor and assistant instructor.
