Panel convenors: Stephen Carradini, Erika Darics and Geert Jacobs

We invite students (at the Master’s and Ph.D. levels) to submit proposals for a Student Panel at our upcoming conference in Vienna, Austria.

Panel’s Goals: This panel will highlight contributions of students to business and professional communication scholarship. Possible topics could relate to the following:

  • digital communication

  • social media

  • visual communication

  • interpersonal communication

  • crisis communication

  • globalization

  • other topics of related interest

These topics can be approached via a wide variety of theoretical lenses and methodological approaches.

Students who are selected for the panel will be invited to give a 15-min talk about their research followed by 15 minutes of discussion.

Submission Process: To submit a proposal, submit a 500-word abstract to Erika Darics or Geert Jacobs by 31 March 2020. Abstracts must include research question, data, methodology, results and conclusions. You will receive a decision about your abstract by 15 April 2020.

The Association for Business Communication aims to support the new generation of thinkers in the field via a Student Travel Grant of up to $300 to offset the cost of attending the conference. Please indicate with your submission whether you would like to apply for a Travel Grant.

Eligible applicants must be new or current ABC members; note that students can become a member for $30 / year. Grants will be awarded based on both merit and need, with preference given to students who are not currently employed in a full-time academic or professional position in business/communication.
