Position at IIB, other positions and academic career

Can joined the Institute for International Business as a research and teaching associate in late 2017. He earned his doctoral degree in 2022 from the University of Business and Economics and immediately transitioned into a position as an assistant professor at the very same academic unit.

During this time, Can has already gained a lot of teaching experience, both domestically and abroad, resulting in a broad teaching portfolio – ranging from (un)graduated International Business Strategy to Scientific Research Methods courses. His teaching efforts have recently been acknowledged with the WU Excellent Teaching Award of 2020, the WU Innovative Teaching Award of 2021 and with a nomination for the Ars Docendi – Austrian Award for Excellent Teaching 2022.

Research interest

His research focuses on two relevant topics, namely digitalization and sustainability in multinational firms. Among others, he is currently studying the impact of the degree of digitalization on the MNEs’ alignment with the UN Sustainable Development Goals.
