SDG 10 Reduced Inequalities

SDG 10 aims to give equal opportunities for participation in politics, society, and the economy to all people. As WU students Romina and Franzi explain, it is important to reduce the gap between the rich and the poor in societies where these dichotomies persist. Not only this, but it is also crucial to reduce inequalities between countries.

In the second video, Romina speaks with Dr. Judith Kohlenberger, a post-doctoral Researcher on Social Policy and STaR Intellectual Community member. Dr. Kohlenberger researches the marginalization of refugees, asylum seekers, and displaced persons and tries to inform policy on the topic, especially when it comes to the reception and integration of refugees. She especially stresses the impact of the pandemic on communities that were already marginalized. To move closer to SDG 10, she notes the importance of recognizing refugees not as the ‘other’, but as vital members of our society.
