Pathways to Inclusion: Expanding Access and Impact in Sustainable Academia (March 19 2026)

24/02/2026

What must change for academia to become a more inclusive space that centres lived experiences and supports diverse student pathways in and beyond university?

This guiding question shapes our upcoming informal roundtable “Pathways to Inclusion: Expanding Access and Impact in Sustainable Academia”, taking place on 19th of March 17:00 – 19:00 at Room D5.1004 WU.

We invite students to come together to share their lived experiences, reflect on barriers to their academic life, and how can intersectionality be meaningfully implemented. Whether you’ve experienced or witnessed discrimination, don’t feel your reality reflected or represented in academia, or have ideas on how to bring sustainability action into academic life, this is the moment to share and speak up.

This space will also offer you the opportunity to raise questions about the opportunities, services, and facilities available at WU. Together, we will explore what is changing at WU, what support structures already exist, and what further action is needed to ensure just, equitable access and well-being for all students.

Looking beyond academia, our discussion will also aim to create space to share experiences related to sustainability work, activism, and engagement outside the university. By connecting academic life with broader social and environmental commitments, this roundtable can highlight how students can expand their impact across institutional and societal boundaries.

Facilitator: Audacia Ngunza, STaR Competence Center Assistant and Doctoral Researcher
