People with Disabilities
People with disabilities should be able to lead a life as self-determined and inclusive as possible. Throughout history, this has not been a matter of course and even today many steps are needed to achieve the goal of a largely inclusive society. The path to this goal leads from raising awareness of impairment and disability, through various services and technical aids and comprehensive accessibility, to active participation in all areas of society. When the body, senses, mind or soul of a person is impaired for a longer period of time, special needs arise. Affected people therefore need support or a special environment in order to be able to shape their everyday life in a self-determined way.
The NPO Competence Center has a broad range of experience with the topic of disability and sees itself as a knowledgeable partner.
We have carried out several participatory processes in recent years involving both intellectually and multiply impaired persons as well as persons with physical and/or sensory impairments.
We involved people with disabilities in research projects and included intellectually disabled persons in the sense of inclusive research as researchers for their own cause:
In the area of data processing, we carried out comprehensive surveys as a basis for further forecast calculations. These serve, for example, to develop requirement plans in social planning.
Last but not least, the NPO Competence Center also deals with legal and socio-political framework conditions with regard to people with disabilities. In this context we carried out some evaluations.
