Social Entrepreneurship in Austria

Against the backdrop of a multitude of social and ecological problems, the discontentment with current approaches and the growing heroizing of entrepreneurial actors, social entrepreneurship is discussed as a promising alternative.

In this project we map the most important actors being involved in Social Entrepreneurship (SE) in Austria and investigate their specific understandings of SE. As a first step we focus on the most important support organizations being involved in the Austrian social entrepreneurship field and investigate their specific understandings of social entrepreneurship and the discursive mechanisms that render social entrepreneurship so attractive. Above that emphasis is put on how the various understanding of SE are incorporated in the work of social entrepreneurs.
