Personal details

Franziska Disslbacher is an Assistant Professor at the Department of Socio-Economics (Institute for Spatial and Socio-Ecological Transformations) and at the Research Institute Economics of Inequality. Previously, she held positions at Roma Tre University, was a visiting researcher at the University of California, Berkeley, and was an Advanced Research Collaborative Distinguished Visiting Scholar at the CUNY Graduate Center in New York. Her dissertation on income inequality, completed in 2022, received several national and international awards. 

Her current research focuses on the distribution and taxation of income, wealth, and inheritances, as well as intergenerational social mobility. At INEQ, she leads the project MOBILITY-PATH: Multidimensional Intergenerational Mobility and Pathways to Upward Mobility, funded by the Vienna Science and Technology Fund, and projects on wealth and inheritances in Austria.

In addition, Franziska serves as a consultant to the World Bank on wealth distribution and taxation, is a Visiting Research Fellow at the International Inequalities Institute (London School of Economics), a Research Fellow at the World Inequality Lab (Paris School of Economics), and is affiliated with the Stone-Center on Socio-Economic Inequality (Graduate School, City University of New York) and the German Socio-Economic Panel (German Institute for Economic Research).
