Work at IfU, previous experience and academic profile

Saam is a Research and Teaching Associate who joined the Institute for Strategy and Managerial Accounting (IfU) in October 2022. He completed his M.Sc. in Management at London Business School, graduating with distinction in 2020. Prior to that, Saam received his B.Sc. degree in Business Administration from WU Vienna. During his studies, he also spent one term abroad at the University of Southern California, Los Angeles.

Before joining academia, Saam worked as a strategy consultant at Strategy& for 2 years, where he gained expertise in a wide range of industries, including consumer goods, industrials, automotive, energy, and life sciences. Most notably, Saam advised clients on corporate/ business strategies, turnarounds/ restructuring, strategic partnerships, and ESG strategies.

Research interest

Building upon his previous business experience, Saam’s academic research is primarily focused on corporate social responsibility. Specifically, he investigates causal relationships between ESG and financial performance of corporations, i.e. if and how socially responsible companies outperform their peers financially. In addition, Saam also researches several levers to manage ESG performance, including management control systems, institutional investors, and disclosure regulations.
