Are you still managing or do you have an impact?

01/07/2019

This question was the focus of a top management dialogue held by the Institute for Managing Sustainability on June 26, 2019, focusing on digitalization, responsibility and sustainability.

More than 50 top managers from a wide range of industries participated, including executives from Swarowski, Rewe, PwC, Sandoz, Merck, Beiersdorf, Bipa, BASF, Lidl, Manner, Velux and Magenta Telekom. The top management dialogue was organized together with Spencer Stuart International, a global executive search and leadership-consulting firm.

The management dialogue was moderated by Karin Bauer, Der Standard, and included the following keynote speeches:

  • Mag. Maria Zesch, Magenta Telekom, Chief Commercial Officer, Business to Business and Digitalization, on "Digitalization - more than just a buzzword";

  • Prof. Dr. André Martinuzzi, Director of the Institute for Sustainability Management of WU, on "Responsibility - Opportunity or Excessive Demand?"; and

  • DDr. Sabine Aigner, Partner Spencer Stuart International, on “Sustainability - A new Generation of Executives”.

Following the keynote speeches, there was an animated discussion about digitalization, corporate responsibility and sustainability and the consequences of these topics for management. Participants agreed that these three issues will have a significant impact on the way companies create their products and services, beginning from procurement, to production and to customer management.
