Andre Martinuzzi Appointed to the Supervisory Board of BIG

16/05/2022

The Bundesimmobiliengesellschaft (BIG) develops, maintains, and manages more than 400 schools, 200 university buildings, and approximately 800 specialized properties for public infrastructure.

As one of Austria's largest real estate firms, the BIG holds significant economic and social responsibilities. It, therefore, pays close attention to the impact of its developed and managed buildings on the local community and the environment. For years, it has been investing deliberately in the refurbishment and decarbonization of existing properties, with an additional 2 billion euros earmarked for a carbon-neutral portfolio by 2040.

André Martinuzzi, Director of the Institute for Sustainability Management, was appointed to the Supervisory Board of BIG in May 2022: "In recent years, sustainability has emerged as a strategic priority for many companies in the construction and real estate sector. Climate-friendly construction and renovation, ESG reporting, and inclusive design are the key future topics. BIG has set ambitious goals for itself and can reference a variety of interesting projects. I look forward to supporting BIG as a critical and constructive discussion partner on their successful path."

During the General Assembly on April 27, 2022, alongside representatives from the works council, the following external members were appointed to BIG's Supervisory Board: Christine Catasta (Chairwoman of the Supervisory Board), Edeltraud Stiftinger (Managing Director of Austria Business Service), Martin Holzinger (Director of the Austrian Holdings AG), Elisabeth Gruber (Presidential Section of the Ministry of Finance), Claudia Brey (Managing Director of ÖBB Real Estate Management GmbH), and André Martinuzzi (Vienna University of Economics and Business).
