4th International Common Good HRM Conference

17/03/2026

Encouraging and managing collective action for the common good

The 4th International Common Good HRM Conference 2026 took place following the success of previous editions and the continued multidisciplinary engagement with the Common Good Human Resources Management (CGHRM) concept. The conference was organised by the International Common Good Management Network and hosted by the Institute for Human Resource Management at WU Vienna (Austria), with support from partner institutions including STaR, The Louvain Research Institute in Management and Organizations (LouRIM) at UCLouvain (Belgium), The Open University Business School (United Kingdom), Hamdan Bin Mohammed Smart University (HBMSU – United Arab Emirates), The University of Otago (New Zealand), and The Technological University of the Shannon (TUS – Ireland).

Held under the theme “Working Together for Tomorrow: Encouraging and Managing Collective Action for the Common Good,” the conference brought together scholars and practitioners interested in advancing research and practice in Common Good HRM.

In line with the organisers’ commitment to open access, affordability, and sustainability, the conference was free of charge and was held online on Wednesday, 11 March and Thursday, 12 March 2026.

The conference featured a range of contributions, including full and developmental academic papers as well as practitioner case-study presentations. Selected papers were considered for inclusion in a planned CGHRM co-edited book. Dedicated sessions were also organised for PhD students and practitioners, providing opportunities for early-stage researchers and professionals to present their work and receive feedback.

In addition, participants had the opportunity to meet with the Guest Editors of the upcoming special issue of the International Journal of Human Resource Management (IJHRM) on “Common-Good Human Resource Management: Global and Comparative Perspectives.” These sessions allowed attendees to discuss potential submission ideas and further engage with the evolving CGHRM research agenda.
